There are several things to consider before using market development funds that could help you to utilize them correctly and efficiently when the time comes. A lot of times partners feel the pressure of a deadline in which they have to use the MDF funds and sometimes even pay them back. This is often the biggest complaint among partners as well, because it is a hassle to have to worry and be concerned about. They might claim that they can't adequately prepare to leverage a vendor's MDF funds because the offers only last a quarter or, even worse, a mere 30 days. If vendors put some faith in the partners and give them more leeway and time with the MDF funds, it will be easier to come up with well-planned campaigns and effective promotions.

Another problem that some might run into with market development funds is stringent terms and conditions. In order to combat fraud and the misuse MDF funds, many vendors have adopted strict rules that dictate even the smallest details of a solution provider's market development funds advertisement or marketing campaign. That makes it hard for resellers to develop creative efforts, and if they break the rules, they don't get reimbursed. However, by working more closely with one another, there are easy compromises that can be made that will benefit all sides and partners in the campaign. By simply throwing around rules and guidelines, there is no effective way for MDF funds to be used.
