Importance Of Partner Relationship Management


As channel marketing is becoming more common for businesses, most partners within a channel have earned most of their revenues through indirect channel partners such as dealers, agents, value-added resellers (VARs), wholesalers, and distributors. There are many benefits in having a channel marketing scheme with several partners. The companies that are best able to carry out successful sales channels are those who understand what they do well and what they don't. Having weaknesses does not weaken the sales channel. In fact, it can help it if the company knows to go into channel marketing with partners that can cover the weak areas of the business. As different partners enter into the sales channel, they can use other partners' strengths while providing their own to the other partners.

Any partner within a sales channel should be prepared to enter into it knowing about the partner relationship management that will require all of the business' information. There is no point entering into business arrangements with a vendor that doesn't provide information and support. Channel partners deserve and demand the same support structure that you provide to your own direct sales force. Partner relationship management ensures that each partner has and uses the most accurate information for their personal benefit and for the benefit of the rest of the sales channel.

When it comes to the customer, they are not particularly concerned with the methods of the product being transferred from one partner to another. They simply want to find the most convenient and efficient way for a product or service to get into their hands. Each partner in the sales channel will contribute to this. It cannot be done efficiently without a partner relationship management program in place. As partners enter into the sales channel, their strengths and weaknesses within the sales channel will be distributed into the channel to ensure that there is increased success.
